Stevie's Auto-generated Texture Experiments

Welcome to My Textures Page!

This site describes my experiments in generating textures for 3D objects.

I use Delphi and DirectX but the graphical elements are not system-dependant.

My main interest is in real-time generation of textures for animations and fly-through demos, but on this page you will see only the results of those endeavours.

Download what you like and contact me for more.

Also contact me if you have comments or suggestions!

Keep checking for updates.

I refresh these pictures regularly, so come back soon!

What IS a Texture?

A texture is defined as a square image that has a power of two pixels on each side.

The textures on the page are mostly 256x256x24.

Although intended for applying to 3D objects, a texture is also ideal as a background to a Web Page and Email messages.

A Seamless Texture

Does it Seam OK?

A texture that can be copied side by side without an obvious joint is called a horizontally seamless texture.

One that can be laid one above the other without a visible joint is a vertically seamless texture.

And one that can be tiled without joints is either just seamless or orthogonally seamless.

Various examples are offered of each kind.
